TRADITIONAL DAY CAMPS

Beaver Country Day, located in Chestnut Hill, has been engaging children with educational programs for more than 80 years. Two-week sessions are offered throughout the summer for ages 3-13. Beaver offers campers with unforgettable experiences through a traditional day camp as well as many specialty programs, such as theater, arts, sports and field trips.

Camp Kaleidoscope provides kids aged 5-16 a chance to explore the arts, sciences, and the outdoors. Campers make lifelong friends in a positive Jewish community. Camp Kaleidoscope is held at 333 Nahanton Street in Newton.

Fessenden Summer Camp provides children aged 3.5+ to grade 8 with a multitude of activities to enjoy throughout the summer. Kids will swim and enjoy outdoor sports, archery, and woodworking, among other activities. Fessenden is located at 250 Walnut Street in Newton.

Historic Newton inspires discovery and engagement in children of all ages by illuminating our community’s stories within the context of American history. Classes are held at the site of the Jackson Homestead, located at 527 Washington Street in Newton.

S.P.A.C.E. (Summer Program for Academic & Creative Encounters) Camp, organized by the Newton Public Schools, is a four-week enrichment program for Kindergarten through 9th grade students. Participants are involved in activities such as art, music, science, drama and other games and activities, as well as swimming at Crystal Lake or Gath Pool.

West Suburban YMCA Camp Pikati provides kids aged 3-15 with opportunities to enjoy theme-based weekly camps throughout the summer. Half day options are available for the younger campers. The camp is held at 276 Church Street in Newton.

STEM / STEAM CAMPS

Edge on Science offers various week-long STEM programs for kids entering grades 5-9. The programs fuel children’s interests in applied science and engineering. The programs are held at Lassell University at 1844 Commonwealth Avenue in Newton.

Einstein’s Workshop summer camp is a STEM camp for children in grades K-8. The camp offers robotics, coding, making and inventing, and game learning. The camp is held at Lassell University at 1844 Commonwealth Avenue in Newton.

Empow STEM Summer Camps support kids aged 7-17 in developing literacy in digital, virtual, and robotic environments. Students gain a deeper understanding of technology through week long sessions in Tech & Design, Mincraft, Coding, and Virtual Reality. Empow STEM Newton is located at 180 Needham Street.

Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program is a free 7-week computer science program for junior and senior high school girls. The program is offered at various locations across Massachusetts, including Newton.

Newton Environmental Science Program, based at Bowen Elementary School, let students entering grades 7-10 explore the wilderness and learn about the environment. Campers will hike Mount Washington and canoe the Charles River, among other outdoor activities.

Cooking Camps

Create a Cook is a recreational cooking school for kids and adults. The school offers workshops, classes, and cooking parties as well as summer and school vacation programs for kids aged 7 and older. Create a Cook is located at 53 Winchester Street in Newton.

Dance Camps

All That Jazz Dance Studio summer program offers a week-long half-day program for young dancers aged 3.5-7. The studio is located at 333 Watertown Street in Newton.

Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program, designed for students aged 12-18, offers an unparalleled experience for serious-minded ballet students. The Newton studio is located at 153 Needham Street in Newton.

The JL SummerDance program offers a multitude of programs to provide students of all ages with opportunities to explore music, movement and to continue dancing throughout the summer. The Joanne Langione Dance School is located at 38 Border Street in Newton.

Creative and Performing Arts Camps

Newton Theatre Company offers kids aged 5-8 at all levels with opportunities to develop and hone their theatrical skills. The theatre is located at 1326 Washington Street in Newton.

The New Art Center provides full day classes for kids in Kindergarten through grade 6. Students are divided by age and explore multiple activities daily, from drawing and painting to sculpture and performing arts. The camp is held at 61 Washington Park in Newton.

Summer Art Programs at The Paper Mouse offers classes for children aged 7-12 during school vacation breaks and summer. Kids explore traditional media and techniques such as drawing and painting. The Paper Mouse is located at 1274 Washington Street in Newton.

Farm Camps

Newton Community Farm provides educational summer and school vacation programs for kids aged 3-14. During half-day and full-day sessions, kids will dig, plant, weed and water fresh produce while learning about the natural beauty of the farm. Gymnastics Camps

Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing is a place for non-competitive gymnasts and climbers at all levels who are age 3-6+.
