Thacher Montessori School, founded in 1971, is an independent, day school for toddlers through 8th graders. The school’s core values are grounded in a strong foundation of authentic Montessori philosophy and pedagogy, which guides the curriculum, community, and school culture.
Natural light, easy access to the outdoors, and a floor plan that facilitates purposeful work are the cornerstone of the learning environment at Thacher. In addition to multiple classrooms, the facilities include classroom patios, greenhouse, gymnasium, library, music room, art room, and science room. Daily recess, allotted turf-time, parent-organized soccer clinics and lots of playground time keep our Children’s House students active every day, every season.
Toddler Program
Designed specifically for children ages 18 months to three years, the toddler classroom provides safe, structured, and beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces where toddlers can explore and learn.
Children’s House
Students aged 3 to 6 are respected as individuals and encouraged to be active participants in the classroom. The Children’s House program offers hands-on experience in practical life, sensorial activities, Spanish, science, math, music and movement, and cultural studies. Each classroom has immediate access to the outdoor environment for gardening, nature study, picnics, and playtime.
Extended Hours
Early morning care is available starting at 7:00am. After-school care offers structured programs, clubs, and other activities until 4:45pm and low-key opportunities such as reading or relaxing until 6:00 p.m.
