German International School Boston is a bilingual independent school serving students from age 3 (toilet-trained) through grade 12. The school is one of only seven schools in the U.S. to meet accreditation requirements of the German government. Preschool students have access to an outdoor playground, a large indoor multi-use play-space, and frequent trips to the playgrounds at Artesani Playground. The school also offers a bilingual camp for students aged 4 – 12 during the summer.
Students with all levels of German are welcomed and supported. Teachers speak exclusively German using a range of methods to promote language learning. Mixed-age classes include students up to age 5 in the preschool. Daily rhythm is continuously fine-tuned to support children’s physical needs and intellectual growth.
Curriculum
The school year is divided into three learning themes. Teachers foster learning in math, German, science and social studies, as well as fine motor and general language skills. A range of enrichment areas such as sensory awareness, music, and art are integrated into the learning themes. These concepts are presented playfully through rhymes, songs, movement, and colorful games. Children will develop the skills to succeed in the next steps of their education
