Detailed Information

The Wheelock Family Theatre creates inter-generational and multicultural productions for the whole family and dynamic summer classes for school-aged students. The Theatre provides a dynamic and exciting experience for young actors. The curriculum teaches drama skills while connecting those skills with each child’s overall development. There is a wide variety of week-long classes offered throughout the summer for kids in Kindergarten through High School.

Since its founding in 1981, the Theatre has staged more than 100 mainstage productions such as Charlotte’s Web, Pippi Longstocking, Peter Pan, and the Sound of Music, among many others.  Wheelock is dedicated to those who are historically under-served: people of color, people with disabilities, and low-income families. Wheelock Family Theatre became a program of Boston University in 2018, following the merger of Wheelock College and Boston University.
