Detailed Information

ImprovBoston provides a platform and venue for local comedy artists and offers classes for artists aged 8-17 during school vacation breaks. A national leader in the art of comedy, the curriculum dives into the foundation of improvisation and the fundamentals of standup. Participants will delve into daily electives like storytelling, sketch, clowning, and comedy writing for social media. Small classes ensure everyone learns while having a great time, and they’re perfect for all levels, from beginner to experienced artists.

Students are taught to have confidence in their own point of view, accept mistakes as gifts, become inspired team players, and communicate their ideas effectively.

Comedy Vacations

Spend school vacation at New England’s premiere comedy training ground. Students explore, develop and succeed in a fun and supportive environment. Week-long journeys are tailored to develop the creative and comedic sensibilities of each artist. The week builds to a celebratory showcase of improv and standup in the main theater with lighting, live music, and an audience filled with friends and family.

Programs are broken into three age groups: 8-10, 11-13, and 14-17. No previous comedy or theater experience is required.

After School Laughter School

The after school program focuses on the skills necessary to build a supportive ensemble that showcase teamwork, individual strengths, and improvised comedy. Weekly classes offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays foster growth in improv’s key competencies: agreement, emotional and physical heightening, character work, giving and taking of focus, group mind, basic stage awareness, and of course, lots of fun!  No prerequisite or audition is required.

Faculty

Professionally-trained instructors represent some of Boston’s best and most experienced improvisational comedians. The faculty teaches classes in improv comedy, sketch comedy writing, and standup comedy.
