The Girls Summer Leadership Program at Dana Hall offers girls entering 9th grade an opportunity to prepare for the choices and challenges they may face when entering high school. Through specially-designed workshops and activities, girls build skills in leadership, communication, decision making, collaboration, conflict resolution, and problem solving, among other skills.
Mission
Dana Hall encourages young women to take risks, find their strengths, and discover their voices. The program seeks to cultivate core values of integrity, leadership, diversity, and service, as well as respect for self and others.
Program Structure
The 7-day/6-night residential program is open to girls who have completed eighth grade and will enter any high school in the fall. Whether participants will enter a coed or single sex high school, the girls will be better prepared to navigate the transition with confidence and self-awareness.
Participants will examine different leadership styles and find their own strengths, aspire to be a leader in their high school communities, experience dorm life, and gain a support network thy can continue to connect with after the program ends.
Mentors
Girls in the program will work with a network of high school, young alumnae, and adult mentors that include Dana Hall faculty, community members, and Dana Hall alumnae.
Facilities and Resources
The program takes place on Dana Hall’s 52-acre campus in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Girls will reside with roommates in the dormitories and have access to the school’s technology, fields, classrooms, dining hall and athletic center.
