Camp Casco is a free one-week summer camp open to childhood cancer patients and survivors aged 7-17. Campers build lifelong connections within a fun and supportive community. Kids can dance, conquer the water trampoline, perform in a talent show, and roast marshmallows at campfire, among many other traditional camp activities. Older participants will also engage in team-building and leadership opportunities.
The overnight camp takes place at Camp Wingate Kirkland in Yarmouth Port on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Camp Casco follows the Gold Ribbon standards suggested by Children’s Oncology Camping Association, International.
Accommodations and Meals
Campers stay in individual same-gender cabins within age-appropriate groups. The cabins have electricity, indoor wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, hot water, and single or bunk beds. Every cabin is supervised by counselors. The campsite has wide, flat, dirt paths that are not steep. All-terrain wheelchairs are available for any camper to use throughout the week.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily and nutritious snacks are offered whenever campers get hungry between meals.
Transportation
Bus transportation is available to/from Brookline and Shrewsbury.
Day Camp
Camp Casco also conducts a one-week day camp for young cancer patients and survivors aged 5-10. The day camp is hosted by LINX Camps and held at the Dana Hall campus in Wellesley.
Family Socials
Free social events throughout the year bring together families affected by childhood cancer in a fun, casual setting. These events are open to any family with a child how has, or has had, cancer. Past or future camp enrollment is not required.
