The Barton Center offers programs during school vacation breaks.
Resident camps and Camp Joslin offer various outdoor and educational activities, filled with sports, arts and crafts, swimming, talent shows, hikes, and casino nights, among other exciting events. Providing a supportive environment for kids with Type 1 diabetes, the Clara Barton camp is for girls aged 5-15 and Camp Joslin is for boys aged 5-15.
Family Programs
The Barton Center recognizes that the entire family can be affected by diabetes. The family programs provide lots of fun, support and education for mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandparents and caregivers. The camp offers one-on-one discussions with on-site professionals and a chance to meet and bond with other families.
Vermont Co-Ed Overnight Camp
The co-ed overnight camp for boys and girls between the ages of 6-16 is held in South Hero, VT at the Camp Ta-Kum-Ta campgrounds. Barton partners with SLAMDiabetes (SLAMT1D, a non-profit organization committed to empowering people affected by Type 1 diabetes) to bring fun and excitement to campers. Kids enjoy various outdoor experiences, swimming, arts and crafts, and games, as well as education about diabetes in a supportive environment.
