Visitors to Middlesex Fells can hike, bike, fish or take the dog for a trail walk or an off-leash run within the large designated area. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent to explore Spot Pond. There are more than 100 miles of mixed-use trails at various levels of difficulty.
Mountain Biking
Mountain bikers can take the Mountain Bike Loop around the Western Fells or the more challenging Reservoir Trail. Multiple fire roads and single-track trails provide various levels of difficulty from easy to moderate to challenging. Fire road loops are found in Lawrence Woods and Eastern Fells. The Mountain Bike Loop trail around green blazed Western Fells is about 85% fire roads and the remainder is single-track trails. The orange blazed Reservoir Trail is a more challenging ride around Western Fells is 70% single-track level and 30% fire roads.
Off-Leash Dog Area
There are designated on- and off-leash dog areas within the Fells Reservation. Dogs are not allowed to chase wildlife. Sheepfold Meadow is the designated off-leash area for dogs to run free and play. Dogs must be attended, non-aggressive and under voice control at all times.

Parking
Parking is free at various areas near the Middlesex Fells Reservation:
- Sheepfold parking area from Route 28 is open from 9:00am until dusk. This is the closest parking lot to the off-leash dog area.
- Flynn Rink, the Botume House and Virginia Wood on Woodland Road
- Greenwood Park, the Stone Zoo on Pond Street
- Straw Point parking on the corner of South Street and Route 28
- Bellevue Pond, Long Pond and other on street parking spots along South Border Road
- Jerry Jingle Park on Lynn Fells Parkway. Note that this parking requires cross the Parkway to the Reservation.
- Crystal Springs parking area on Lynn Fells Parkway
