The Massachusetts Chess Association is an educational non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote chess in Massachusetts and represent the interest of chess players within the state to the United States Chess Federation.

MACA promotes chess among schools and the general public.

  • Four major tournaments annually
  • Scholastic programs, which include a series of tournaments to determine the state’s scholastic champions
  • Living Memorial Chess Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides chess sets and boards to schools, libraries and other public service organizations and community groups
  • Chess Horizons, a subscription-based quarterly publication of chess news

Membership

A MACA membership offers opportunities for scholastic tournaments, satisfies state affiliation requirement for regional tournaments, and announcements for upcoming MACA tournaments. Players who enter tournaments must also be a member of the USCF, the governing body for chess in the US.
