Detailed Information

Walnut Hill School for the Arts offers summer arts programs for students in middle and high school who are interested in music, theater, dance, visual arts and film making. Single-week and  multi-week sessions run from late June through August.

The residential program offers boarding students a safe community on the Natick campus. There are eight dormitories that house 15-50 students in single, double, or triple rooms. Trained, CPR-certified residential assistants supervise the dorms.

Summer Institutes

The Summer Institutes program offers single- and multi-week residential and day courses designed for serious and creative young artists aged 11-17. Students will work with Walnut Hill faculty as well as guest faculty on various specialty courses such as chamber music, comic book production, and film and artistic voice. Resident students will attend chaperoned weekend field trips to nearby coastal cities, malls, amusement parks or other local attractions.

Summer Youth Dance

The summer dance program is designed for serious dancers aged 10-14. Students will hone their technique in ballet, modern, eurythmics and jazz, among others. Class placement is based on individual technical ability and physical strength, determined by the program director. Dancers have the option to attend one of the three-week sessions or the entire six weeks. Each session ends with a final presentation for friends and family. Resident students will participate in chaperoned walking tours throughout Natick and other field trips around the greater Boston area. Check the website for dance audition information.

Summer Theater Intensive

The unique combination of studio classes and professionally mounted stage productions allow students aged 13-17 to develop their craft and apply their performance skills. The four-week boarding program engages students in daily classes in acting, musical theater, and dance. Students will be cast in a play and a musical.

Summer Film Intensive

Summer Film develops collaborative, innovative, and flexible filmmakers. Students learn the various stages of film production and work collaboratively to produce a short film.
