Detailed Information

Mazemakers offers dynamic learning opportunities for kids entering grades 2-8. Summer camp participants choose their courses and projects. Emphasis is placed on cooperative problem solving, imagination, intellectual stimulation and fostering a respectful community.

Philosophy

Mazemakers serves a small community of about 80 young people in an atmosphere of respect, intellectual vitality, and imagination. Authorship is a central focus of the summer experience. While the element of choice differentiates Mazemakers from other summer camps, creativity and teamwork remain a constant. Campers work together to help one another with projects and complete challenges. This fosters community building where every participant’s voice matters.

Program Structure

The coed program encourages kids of all ages to work together and learn from each other. Mazemaker campers begin their day in circle, which allows the kids to check in, play games, solve puzzles and preview the upcoming activities for the day. Classes may include free swim, drama, music, games, STEM programs and outdoor sports.

Staff

Counselors are professional educators and college students with both classroom and summer program experience. The team is supported by high school students who participate in the counselor-in-training program.

More than 80% of the staff return to Mazemakers each summer. This is a testament to their dedication to the program and ensures the camp is run by a well-trained team. The entire staff goes through orientation and training each summer and all members undergo a CORI/SORI check.

Lunch

The food service professionals at Meadowbrook provide a well-balanced, nutritious lunch at no additional charge. The menu includes hot entrees as well as fresh sandwich and salad bar options. Morning snack and juice are also provided. Campers with special dietary needs may bring their own lunch.
