The Summer Program for Academic & Creative Encounters (S.P.A.C.E) is a four-week enrichment program run by the Newton Public Schools during July for students entering Kindergarten through 9th grade.
Morning campers must pack a snack and full day campers should also pack a lunch. All lunches will be refrigerated.
Program Overview
Lower Camp
Students entering Kindergarten through 4th grade offers project based learning, challenges and activities around a specified theme ( e.g., space). Full day campers will also swim at Crystal Lake twice a week. The Kindergarten class swims in the wading pool at Gath.
Upper Camp
Students entering 5th through 9th grades will create their own schedules and camp program. They can choose from a vast selection of electives, including art studios, performing arts, instrumental and music lessons, athletics, STEM activities and language arts. Full day campers can choose to swim daily at the Gath Pool.
Staff
Lower camp has two licensed teachers and upper camp has at least one licensed teacher. Staff also includes counselors and support staff. A nurse is on site at all times.
Schedule and Extended Hours
Drop off is at 9:00am. Half day program pick up is at 1:00pm. Full day program pick up is at 3:30pm.
Early morning drop off at 8:00am and extended afternoon hours until 6:00pm is available for an additional fee.
Financial Assistance
Tuition assistance is available for families in need to help reduce the cost of the program.
